White Claws
“White Claws”
While out on our Grizzly Bear Photo Safari, Josh our guide was eager to get going down the river this cool early September morning. We didn’t know it at the time, but he had heard that an old familiar bear had been seen. As we headed down the river, upon rounding our last bend, there we saw her - “White Claws!” Josh shared with us how she earned her name from her very distinctive long pearly white claws. We could only go so far as the rapids in the water prevented us from getting any closer. So, Josh held our boat for close to an hour as we watched her bury some dead salmon for her 2 cubs, and then devour a large 30 lb salmon and later settle down in the water to digest her early morning breakfast. She was truly a sight to behold!
